The largest of the six fires currently burning throughout Southern California, The Thomas Fire, is now ranked as the 10th most severe fire since 1932. Thus far, this fire alone has scorched 170,000+ acres of land, destroyed several hundred structures and disabled power for up to 90,000 residential and commercial properties.
The National Weather Service now predicts up to 55 MPH gusts of wind moving into Sunday night. Residents in Montecito and Carpinteria were ordered to evacuate early Sunday as the fire edged closer.
In total estimates show more than 200,000 people have been evacuated and over 800 structures have been destroyed by all of the fires combined. You can see Saturdays report on all 6 fires here.
